We know that it can be overwhelming to find the answers to all of your questions, so we’ve compiled a few resources that you might find helpful and that will hopefully make your life a little easier. We’ve included some links that contain all of the campus organizations, a schedule of live events at UCSB, and an interactive campus map.
Campus Involvement
List of UCSB Campus Organizations
Have a passion, hobby, or sport in mind? Or maybe you’re looking for like-minded peers? Try browsing through this comprehensive list of Registered Campus Organizations (RCOs) on UCSB’s student life platform, Shoreline. With the help of keywords and search filters, you can narrow down the list, which includes UCSB’s hundreds of RCOs, and find the meeting logistics, contact information, and social media for all of the clubs that interest you.
Registering a Campus Organization at UCSB
If you can’t find the club that you’re looking for, then consider starting a new RCO! College is what you make it, and starting your own club is a great way to do this literally while making an impact on UCSB student life. This page includes an easy-to-digest breakdown of how to register a new campus organization and the steps needed to do so.
One of the best ways to directly contribute to and to immerse yourself into UCSB is to get involved in student leadership. There are so many opportunities for student leadership in AS UCSB, from small committees to larger positions where you can make decisions for the entire student body. Entertainment and Recreation at UCSB
Looking to enrich your mind with a classical music performance, a theater event or an award-winning speaker? This page is a great resource for students to find upcoming events like this on and off campus. The Arts & Lectures page is UCSB-run as well as features a variety of events including live music performances, theater events, and live speakers. This page also includes official links for students to purchase or claim tickets, often allowing for a student discount. This source allows for students to be aware of and take advantage of a multitude of free and discounted arts events to enhance their college experience.
UCSB Composite Sports Schedule
This page includes a calendar of all the previous and upcoming UCSB sporting events. Being a UCSB affiliated website, the calendar is constantly updated with new and accurate information about the sports events, which makes showing up to sports events of your choice a breeze. This page makes navigating the game schedule of a variety of different campus teams very manageable, allowing for you to easily get involved in supporting your fellow student athletes.
UCSB Recreation Center Special Events
The UCSB Recreation Center is not only home to on-campus gyms and sports facilities but also hosts a number of special events throughout the year such as an annual climbing competition or a dodgeball tournament. This page provides a list of these events as well as links to find out more information about them. This page will help students become familiar with some free annual events they may not have been aware of beforehand.
Navigating UCSB
This is an interactive map of UCSB main campus + Isla Vista / Goleta area. Click on the map in the middle of the page and it will open a PDF where you can use “Ctrl + F”(Windows) or “Command + F”(MacOS) to type a name of a building or place you’re looking for and see its location in the map. You can also do the same in your phone; When the pdf is opened, click on the three dots at the top-right corner, select “Search”, and type a name of a place (e.g. Phelps Hall). If you don’t even have a general sense of the location of the place you’re looking for, there is a list of places with the header “Mini Maps (pdf)” right next to the map in the link.
This is a link to Google Maps page with the default location set as UCSB. A great feature of Google Maps is that you can type a name of any building or place you want to find a way to, such as “Campbell Hall”, and it will give you directions of how to reach there. Type “[name of a place] + ucsb” to make sure it shows you the right place.
UCSB On-Campus & Virtual Visits
If you’re completely new to UCSB campus, it’s a good idea to join a guided campus tour, hosted by UCSB Visitor Center. It currently offers three types of campus tours: guided campus tours, self-guided visits, and guided virtual tours. Click on the above link and register now!
